Beyond the Classroom
As a math or computer science major, you will be challenged in the classroom and out. To complement coursework, we urge our students to participate in engaged learning opportunities where you can put your knowledge into practice.
Among the opportunities offered are:
- The chance to present papers at sectional meetings of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA)
- Participation in the MAA¹s challenging national Putnam Exam competition for college students
- Service as math tutors for other students
- Qualification for membership in Pi Mu Epsilon, the National Mathematics Honor Society
- Qualification for membership in Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the International Honor Society for the Computing and Information Disciplines Honor Society
- The chance to produce poster presentations for regional conferences
- Competition in the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) programming contest
- Internships with local businesses
- Travel to participate in inter-collegiate mathematics competitions
